Gonna make this a regular piece where Hitro recognises those in form in the sporting arena across various sporting codes both international and domestically.

Expect some semi regular updates and to experience a fairly diverse range of power....

Purely judgmental of course so any suggestions or complaints should be sent to hitrodontgiveashit@powerrankings.com however you are unlikely to get a reply because Hitro don't give a shit.

Hitro's Power Rankings as at 11.28pm Sunday 9th March

Worthy contenders (no particular order)

Ross Taylor – NZ batsmen of the year as acknowledged last week following his consistent and reliable delivery of power over the last 12months. Would not like to meet this guy with a cricket bat late at night in a dark alley. Was even good enough to take a break near the end of the summer to allow the captain to test his own power capabilities.

Chelsea FC – A 4 nil demolition of spurs this morning has put them 7 points out in front in the English premier league. Whilst Man City are 9 behind with 3 games in hand, the boys in blue are showing how much they enjoy having Mourinho calling the shots at the Stamford Bridge powerstation.

Tiger Woods – not really an overall contender this week but the world number 1 continues to show he has power both on and off the course by almost causing an overload with a sizzling 66 in the 3rd round of the World Golf Championship - Cadillac. You can bet he will be wearing his red shirt in the 4th round as a sign that he is just amping to make it win number 8 at Cadillac.

South Sydney Rabbitohs – Pumped the 2013 NRL champions in the opening game with an early display of their power. They let themselves down last year when it mattered but are looking to show that they've now got the power to go all the way in 2014. Definitely one to watch.

This weeks number 1 display of power....

valerie-adams.jpg?width=300

Valerie Adams -  Big Val has once again displayed IMMENSE power yet again by launching the shotput half way to mars. Only reason it didn’t go the whole was due to the event being indoors. This was Valerie's 44th consecutive competition win. So much power and number 1 on Hitro’s Power Rankings for this week.

Those at risk of decommission

The Breakers – fully broken and in need of a shutdown for some serious off season maintenance plus a new coach to get the machine back to full capacity.

The Phoenix – a draw at home to worst team in the league. Minimal power capabilities at the best of times and performing below par. Woe...

Warriors, Blues, Crusaders and Hurricanes – all have made pretty poor starts to the season and need to raise their power outputs considerably to make it in to the power rankings.

NRL week 1 referees  - use your powers to make a call FFS. Stop consulting with the video refs pretty much every time. Put your balls on the line. Ok, some consideration here with the new rules etc but even the video ref had a shocker tonight. No good.

okay im getting involved (sorry jade)

Dan's nba power rankings

1.  Clippers. - Blake's all round game keeps developing and he is now in firm 3rd spot for MVP rankings
2.  Thunder - Westbrook is back putting up big numbers [triple double in 21 mins] and Durant will be MVP
3.  Houston - Dwight has found his home and is back in the form that made him a star in orlando.  With arguably the inform guard - harden running the show, rockets are contenders.
4.  Spurs.  Did have a lackluster record against the top 6 teams previously (2-10), but in 2 weeks have beaten miami, dallas, portland and the clippers who are all top 10 teams.

hmm these are all western conference teams.  to face Miami in NBA finals - one of these teams

Nomination for a kiwi dominating the Aussies in aussie,

Tui Ormsby a good personal friend of mine from childhood. She's been playing for the Aussie women's rugby team since she was 19.

And is now the most experienced walaroo in Australian rugby history and is about to equal David campese's test cap record this year.

Worthy of a mention

Hitro's Power Rankings as at 10.43pm Sunday 16th March

Worthy contenders (in no particular order)

The Chiefs - one of only two unbeaten teams in the Super15 (other is those Sharks) and top of the NZ conference even after only playing 3 games and no longer getting points for the bye. Looking good without being great.

The Irish rugby team - Took out the 6 Nations title this morning with a well earned win over France in Paris. An awesome way to see off the worlds greatest journeymen Brian O'Driscoll. PS Tana say's "whatsup"
tana2706_182115a.jpg

Annig's Hands - FUGGGGGGGG!!!!!
ug54t0bx.xqp.jpg
NB - potentially would have taken out this weeks power rankings if hands actually lifted.

This weeks number 1 display of power....

Jacko Gill - see his latest video....nuff said.

Those at risk of decommission

The Blues - unlucky with a referees call yet again but shouldn't have needed to score 36 points in 25minutes just to get back in the game. When you are down 20nil at half time you know you can do better.

The Warriors - looked off the pace again and then had a mare of 2nd half at Eden Park where they remain winless. Need to ensure they want to be there and deliver on the basics (passing, catching, play the ball etc) first and foremost.

The Mystics - another Auckland side failing to deliver and this one even has a star studded lineup. 3 losses in a row and bottom of the table.

Cyclone Lusi - didn't really deliver on all the warnings. May or may not have even been a cyclone. Cheers for the waves.

Hitro's Power Rankings as at 10.20pm Sunday 23rd March

Worthy contenders (in no particular order)

Chelsea FC, Man City, Liverpool - the three teams at the top of the EPL. There were 4 in contention until Chelsea embarrassed Wenger and his men in his 1000th game in charge in a 6-nil pumping at Stamford Bridge. Ok so Arsenal are still in contention but OUCH!! Not to be outdone, Man City put away 5 against soon to be relegated Fulham and LIverpool won 6-3 vs another relegation favourite Cardiff. The frontrunners showing their power.

Stim bee - keeps on keeping on. The stim always gets through.

photo-8.png

St George Illawarra Dragons - 3 from 3 so far and the only unbeaten side (other than the Storm who play tomorrow night), the Dragons have got off to a flyer this season. Worth a mention now as I don't think they will feature come the business end. Live in the glory now Dragons.

Beauden Barrett - almost single-handedly standing up for the Hurricanes. Two games in a row where he has picked up a brace of tries and contributed a whole lot of points with the boot. Quality player but not really one you would typically associate with power.

This weeks number 1 display of power....

28530.jpg

Israel Folau - Bags not tackling this guy. And I'm not the only one saying it as the Waratahs winger has already dotted down for 8 tries from 4 matches in this Super Rugby season. Unfortunately he has taken a nasty knock to the throat so delayed his flight to South Africa but the Warratahs will need him if they are to achieve the success they are looking for in the republic.

Those at risk of decommission

The Phoenix - yep still there but wish they weren't. 5 nil last night.....USELESS!!!

The Breakers - been a tough season and all over now for them with CJ Bruton playing his last game for the outfit on Friday night just gone. Another loss (him and the game) and Cedric Jackson not willing to reboard this sinking ship either. Dam....

Hitro's Power Rankings - Tuesday Edition

Worthy contenders (no particular order)

The Sharks – After 7 rounds of the SuperRugby season no team remains unbeaten but the Sharks stand out as the team to beat and sit 6 points ahead of anyone else on the overall ladder with their only blemish being a close loss to the Bulls last weekend. Having the bye this weekend will mean that the gap will close but with another month of games in the republic, expect this team to remain up top for at least a few rounds yet.

Kevin Durant -  Talk about consistency of power. The Oklahoma City Thunder forward continues to dominate and has now scored 25 points or more in 38 consecutive games. He is now not only losing in on the great Michael Jordan's record streak of 40 games (scoring 25 points or more) but also a highly coveted place on top of Hitro's Power Rankings....watch this space.

Liverpool - Now leading the EPL and it doesn't happen often so deserves a mention. After Chelsea's slip up in the weekend it's realistically down to them and Man City now to fight it out for the title and the match between them on April 14th is likely to have a major bearing on who will be the 2014 champions.

This weeks number 1 display of power....

tom_walsh_531a761f5d.JPG

Tom Walsh – Well we had Jacko Gill in the Power Rankings a couple of weeks back showing his immense allround power and speed but when it all came down to showing his power in the competition, big Tom Walsh stood up and delivered and took out the national title. Both have thrown (or is it put?) well enough to qualify for the Commonwealth games so it will be great to see these two guys continue to push each  to strive for maximum power.

Those at risk of decommission

Crusaders - have made mention previously and to be honest they appear to be getting shitter now sitting bottom of the NZ conference and 3rd to last overall. Sure they have started slow to win it in the past but I can't see it happening this year. Time for a new coach?

The Black Caps, England and Australia T20 sides - the only thing that took the pain away from the Black Caps capitulation this morning was seeing that that English had fallen to the mighty Netherlands a few hours earlier. The Australians have struggled as well in Bangledesh and will join the kiwis and the english in an early exit.

Cronulla Sharks - here are some more Sharks for ya but these ones are bottom feeders. Sorely missing Paul Gallen the Cronulla Sharks are none from 4 so far this season and managed to lose by 30 points to nil against the Newcastle Knights who coming in to the game were none from 3 themselves. Sharks play the Warriors this weekend......who knows what will happen but they must be targeting this game as one to get them back on track.
